QCM-I Micro (QCM-D)

The only QCM-D device on the market under $10,000!

Starting at $7,900

QCM-I Micro (QCM-D) With Impedance Measurement and Dissipation Monitoring: The QCM-I Micro measuring unit is a high-sensitivity mass sensor, which measures the change in frequency of a quartz crystal resonator and as a label free biosensor it measures the “wet mass” of the adsorbed layer in processes occurring at or near the sensor surface.

Product Description

The only QCM-D device on the market under $10,000! Starting at $7,900.

The QCM-I Micro is a high-sensitivity, mass sensing instrument, which probes the interactions of molecules, polymers and biological assemblies with surfaces, label-free and in real time. The measurement can be used to determine the hydrated mass and rigidity of nm to micron scale layers at the sensor surface, as well as fluid properties. The measurement principle is based on impedance analysis of a quartz crystal sensor to determine the resonant frequency and bandwidth of the resonant conductance curve; fundamental and overtones. The bandwidth or full width at half maximum (FWHM) is directly correlated to the well-known dissipation (QCM-D).

Model: QCM-I Micro

Price: starts at an only $7,900

Package Includes: QCM-I Micro Device, one QSH-Dip sensor holder and three QCM-Au sensor chips

Main Features:

  • Frequency and FWHM (and/or dissipation) measurement
  • Measures fundamental frequency and overtones up to 80 MHz
  • Dual measurement channels
  • Variety of external sensor holder modules
  • Electrochemical measurement options
  • Modular sensor-holder for accommodating different sensor sizes
  • BioSense data acquisition, visualization and modeling software included

Control and measurement:

The BioSense software is a comprehensive application platform utilized across the entire range of analytical instruments. It facilitates complete control of the QCM-I Micro instrument, managing user accounts, data acquisition, display, storage, and management, as well as data processing and export. With the integration of the electrochemical module, it also oversees the control of a potentiostat and ensures synchronized data acquisition.

Two measurement modes are available:

  • Resonance: Measurement of resonance curve and calculation of the resonance frequency & FWHM up to 80 MHz
  • QCM-t: Continuous measurement of the resonance parameters and the temperature of the flow-cell.

Calculation: various QCM and ad-layer parameters can be calculated using standard or custom made models. All these parameters can be displayed on the screen, printed, saved or can be exported for further evaluation.

Sensors for the QCM-I Micro device:

The heart of the Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM-I Micro) instrument is a thin AT-cut quartz crystal with an electrode on each side.

Quartz crystal sensors with Au or with ITO electrodes and a variety of pre-coatings are available. The modular sensor holder allows using either 14 mm diameter or 1” diameter quartz crystals.

In conventional QCM, the electrodes are typically made of gold which is an ideal electrode material except when applying for electrochemical measurements or for optical investigations using inverse optical microscopes. On the QCM-ITO sensor, transparent ITO electrodes are used and hence providing a more stable electrochemical measurement and can be used for optical investigation as well.
